Hi all!!! It's official my episode of "Nathan for You," will be airing Thursday March 28th at 9:30 PM PST on Comedy Central. I was cast to play a paramedic by the name of Adrian and along side my partner (and friend in real life) David Edward we help Nathan "Fix" a struggling haunted house. the show has been doing great and is hilarious, this episode should be no different. Also in another bit of good news I was cast as a principal character in the long running soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful." I cannot say at this time who I will be playing on the show but I will keep everyone posted on the air date. I will be back again soon! Awww..... the ever familiar call box....dial the numbers wait for the person to answer and you say....."Im here for the audition." then...beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep you may enter Hey everybody! I've decided to change things up a bit, instead of making this blog only about updating you on all things I've been cast in. I've decided to document my journey as an actor. I feel that it might help people better understand the daily grind of a working actor in L.A. Maybe even pick up the spirits of an actor having that ever too familiar moment of self doubt. Do I love what I do? Hell yes! Is it glamorous at times? It can be. Is it a daily grind that can not only knock the wind out of your sails but capsize the whole damn boat?? You bet your sweet arse it is. This business is easy to get into but hard as hell to stay in. You better have the skin of a rhino to take the rejection that can come on a daily basis. But for me all the no's NEVER out way how it feels when you get that Yes....that sweet , beautiful , validation of all your hard work...YES. So here is day one of my Blog 2.0 "The Journey." Day 1 - The Gain National Commercial- Today I had a national commercial audition for Gain (the cleaning product company). It started off in a fairly usual manner, after walking up to an intercom, dialing a code that was typed on a piece of paper that was taped to a wall I say the magic words "I am here for the audition." Then beeeeeeeep I'm in! As I walk in I do so with another gentleman who is a more "hipstery" version of myself (he is the plaid shirt in picture #2) . We both sign in- name, sag#, agent, appt. time, M/F?, then my ethnicity. As I look around I see that we all look fairly similar, some may see this and be annoyed, but I on the other hand see it as Great! This actually makes me feel better than walking into a room that looks like the united nations. At least the director/ producer/ client/ agency (yes that many hands can go into the decision of who is cast at times) knows what they want. Now it is up to me!!! After a brief explanation by the casting director we wait...and wait...and wait. (get used to this newbies...it's the way of the world sometimes but, not all the time) Then.... 20 minutes later, I get the call , it's my turn! I take a photo, state my name, show my profiles (A.K.A. look from side to side) then do my magic! Out of not wanting to be sued by Gain I will not divulge what they had me do , but be sure there was a lot of showing emotions without words. After it's over I get the proverbial "great job," (See Advice #1 below) and exit the room. Here are a few pieces of advice I can give for after an audition: - Piece of Advice #1- Don't think too much about what the final words or the tone of those words coming out of the casting director's mouth are. I've had a C.D. basically tell me I had the job after the audition and then not get cast. But I've also had the the laziest and worst sounding "thank you," and then get booked for the job. You just never know. -Piece of Advice #2- In the end you have to move on, you cannot do anything else at this point, I just think positively (as I always do) and go on to the next one. As I walk out of the casting office I feel great, I feel it was call back worthy (Call backs= a second audition this time w/ either the director or agency or both) but I have to forget about it. Because I will drive myself crazy if I continue to wonder how I did? Or if they will call? Here is a quote that has always stuck with me, thanks Jason Story "Some will, some won't, so what." Well, that's it for day 1... One of many commercial auditions I will have this year (thankfully). Thank you for coming along with me today, hopefully you all continue on reading my future posts and spread the word. Thanks again for the support! -AB Don't be alarmed when you walk in and everyone looks similar to YOU..... this actually makes me feel better than walking into a room that looks like the united nations. At least the director / producer/ client/ agency (yes that many hands into the decision at times) knows what they want. Now it is up to me!!!
2013 is officially here and I hope you all had a great holiday! This year us starting off in a great way with the release of the feature film I shot last year "Hansel and Gretel." the film releases January 8th and will be available for purchase and you will be able to watch it on Netflix as well. In other good news "Food Deconstructed," my You Tube sponsored cooking show has been doing great! We just recently reached 16,000 subscribers and are continuing to grow. I want to thank all of you that have supported the show and there will be plenty more episodes to come this year. You can see our most recent episode below. Well that's 2013 so far, there is plenty more to come including a new show on Comedy Central but that's all I can say for now. So my Monday was great ! I was fortunate to be asked to make an appearance on the popular show "Access Hollywood Live" With Billy Bush and Kit Hoover. I did a five minute live segment on how to deconstruct a Thanksgiving meal, because of the amazing new cooking show I am hosting "Food Deconstructed ." Since it was live TV my original plan was thrown out the window once Billy and Kit got onto set but it was still a great experience. For those of you interested in watching the clip of the segment you can click this link http://watch.accesshollywood.com/video/chef-adrian-bustamante-deconstructs-thanksgiving/1964102999001 and to watch my cooking show "Food Deconstructed" please click here http://www.youtube.com/user/FoodDeconstructed . Thank you to everyone at "Access Hollywood and everyone one on my Food Decon team for such a great Monday!! Feature Film, Fortune 500 Video, More Good News For "My Night With Andrew Cunanan," and Trend This.8/30/2012 Myslef and Dee Wallace on the set of "Hansel and Gretel." Oh where to begin.... This past couple weeks have been a whirl wind! First I was cast to play Deputy Jerry Carter in the new feature film "Hansel and Gretel." I was excited because I found out I would be playing opposite the amazingly talented Dee Wallace. For those of you who don't know she was the mother in "E.T." and "Cujo" and has many, many more television and film credits. the rest of the cast was also a pleasure to work with and our director Anthony C. Ferrante . Then I found out that I was also cast in a very big Corporate Training video for fortune 500 companies. Because we signed an NDA I cannot say much but it was a blast because it was shot in the vein of a video game. Then the cast, crew and myself found out "My Night With Andrew Cunanan" was once again accepted to another film festival. This time the Iris Prize Festival in Cardiff, Wales. The festival accepts only 30 short films from all over the world and amazingly our short film was accepted. This will be the 10th festival of the year and will be showing Thursday October 11th at 9PM, please see the link for more details. http://www.irisprize.org/ . Then last but not least I was officially cast in the new online entertainment show "Trend This." The show will blend celebrity interviews, skits, news and much, much more. We shot our first two episodes already and the show is looking to be a hit! I will be co hosting segements each episode with Amy Paffrath and Emrhys Cooper talking about trending and future trending topics in the world of news and tech. Well that is it for now, thanks for popping in and as always thank you for your continued support! Hey everyone, so I've decided to start doing a weekly recap of the things going on in my professional life. We will see how this goes....
First off I was excited to hear to that "My Night with Andrew Cunanan" Was accepted to an amazing 7th Film Festival this time it is the DC Shorts Film Festival ( Here is the link) http://dcshorts.com/ . It will be showing multiple times at the festival and again I cannot thank everyone enough for the continued support of this film. Secondly I was surprised to see Sea World had decided to use me and my commercial family on billboards for the new Manta ride in their San Diego park. The rest of the (fake)Bustamantes and I currently have a commercial running about the park as well. I have to say it still is a bit weird to see yourself on a billboard..... but, hopefully it will be something I just have to get used to ;). lastly it seems that all my interviews and hard work on social media is slowly paying off (Big ups to my publicist Josh Mitchell of Wickid Pissa Publicity). This last week I had my best star meter rating on IMDB yet! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3580041/ For those of you that don't know, the star meter rating lets you know where you stand among your peers in regards to fan and industry professionals interest in you. The lower the rating the better, and if you can get in the top 5,000 or less you are doing something right. I know, I know some of you say "well that just seems superficial." But people that cast for TV , film and commercials actually look at this rating when trying to make a decision on whom to cast. If they can put someone in their production with a decent fan base vs. someone without one they will do that from time to time. This week I was in the high 5,000's so we will see what happens this coming week. Well... That's it for this week, thanks for stopping in and for all the continued support and love!!!! Oh P.S please feel free to leave comments here and let me know what you think. Adrian "My Night With Andrew Cunanan" recieves two more film festival acceptances. 6 total this year!!6/25/2012 The love that this film has received from film festivals this year has been amazing! The newest acceptances come from the East coast. First up is Philadelphia's QFest July 12-23 and then the North Carolina G & L Film festival August 10-19th. I have placed links below to the film festivals where you will be able to see this wonderful film. Thanks again to all my fellow cast and crew for making this all possible. - QFest http://www.qfest.com/film-details.cfm?id=10674 - North Carolina G&L Film Fest http://www.carolinatheatre.org/ncglff/ So I am super excited to say that "My Night With Andrew Cunanan" will be screening back where it all began. On June 16th at 9:30 PM at the Roxie Theater it will be showing as part of the amazing Frameline 36 Film Festival in San Francisco CA. I am excited about this festival acceptance, not only because it is the fourth festival our film will be screened at this year or because we get to go back home but because of the sheer size of this festival. over 80,000.00 people will attend Frameline 36 so I am happy that more people will see or at least hear about this film. As always congrats to our great cast and crew and to our writer/director/actor Devin Kordt-Thomas. |
